Protect Windows machine? Use Linux!!

I was looking at some coverage of CES and ran into an interesting product.

Yoggie has a family of award winning embedded Linux devices (including a computer on a USB stick that can be purchased for ~$100) that seems to rather effectively protect Windows machines (or home and SOHO networks) from bad stuff on the internet:

I haven't used any of their products so I can't endorse them or answer anything about them that isn't on their website. I just find it very interesting the trend, that has actually been going on for a while, towards using Linux to protect Windows machines from Windows security shortcomings.

There have been a number of other security appliances running Linux that likewise protect Windows PCs and servers, like Astaro (which actually has released their own Linux distro so you can use it to build your own security gateway).

Let's face it Linux is just plain cool!!
