Linuxmint – best one to date for new users and gurus
Arch Linux - build your own mostly…
Debian – Install this on almost anything – basis for Mint and Ubuntu
Fedora – Modern distribution that is the basis for Red Hat Linux
Puppy Linux – for those slightly older machines
Distrowatch – see how many you can run
… And as always, use what works best for you.
