Ubuntu Linux 10.04 – Lucid Lynx
This latest release of Ubuntu Linux is quite polished and works very well. If you want to try out Linux, I recommend either Ubuntu or Linux Mint (Ubuntu-based distribution).

If you are somewhat experienced with Linux, then going with Debian is a better option, which is something I’ve done with my Dell Studio 1555 laptop.
